Partnership with Aquila Air Traffic Management Services

Aquila Air Traffic Management Service - IT service desk outsourced support Interpro Technology

The aviation company has outsourced the work to Interpro Technology Solutions in Fareham, which has expanded its team to service the partnership arrangement

Aquila, based in Whiteley, provides technical solutions and support for air traffic management and air defence.

Established in 2014, it is a joint venture between NATS, the international air traffic control services provider and global systems integrator Thales UK. Aquila has teams based permanently across the UK, in Cyprus and the Falkland Islands.

Aquila has been working with Interpro on an ad hoc basis for the last three years. The outsourcing of its corporate IT support will allow Aquila’s in-house team to focus on major projects and infrastructure development.

Aquila is leading Programme Marshall, a £1.5 billion programme to upgrade and support the UK military’s air traffic management capability at air terminals worldwide over 22 years.

Interpro Technology Solutions Ltd was founded in 2005 and provides fully managed IT support to small and medium businesses in Portsmouth, Fareham, Southampton, surrounding Hampshire areas and further afield.

Based at the Fareham Heights business park, it also specialises in servers, networking, software development, hosted telephone systems and broadband solutions across the UK.

"As a growing business, being able to rely on the support of other local agile businesses is invaluable. After significant growth over the last few years, I’m delighted we can now look to Interpro to provide this important function.

We were keen to partner with another progressive local business and create sustained investment and employment in the Hampshire economy."

Interpro Technology Managing Director Mark Abrams said:

"We began working with Aquila to augment a small internal IT team and help bolster the delivery of IT support to internal customers. This has blossomed into us assuming all helpdesk services as well as IT asset management, patching, backups and monitoring for more than 350 users. We are also providing a technical authority role."

Great IT provision crucial for homeworking say tech experts at Fareham firm Interpro Technology

Working Remotely from home - Interpro Technology

‘IT enablers’ at Fareham firm Interpro Technology boost business

Recent unprecedented challenges faced by businesses have led to a significant shift in the approach of both employers and employees  to working practices.

It will come as no surprise to learn that the number of people working from home has increased dramatically over the past two years.

Forty years ago just 1.5% of employed people permanently worked from home and even by 2019 this had only tripled to 4.7%.

However, Covid-19 and then recent fuel supply issues have resulted in a huge increase in home working, enabling greater employment flexibility, better work-life balance and improved wellbeing.

And there’s no going back.

Latest statistics from the Office for National Statistics reveal that 26% of workers in the UK work from home and another 11% split their time between home and workplace.

Thus, where working from home may once have been the exception rather than the rule for staff, it certainly looks like now becoming the new normal, be it permanent or a split hybrid version.

Some businesses are even looking to downsize, or ‘rightsize’ their office space requirements on a permanent basis.

So what makes this all possible? The answer is, crucially, good IT and the use of enabling cloud technologies that allow users to work remotely and without any compromise.

We have seen huge improvements in cloud technology and faster communications which combine to make a perfect ‘work anywhere on any device’ platform.

The huge uptake of collaborative and communication tools such as Microsoft Teams have enabled staff to work closely together despite being physically apart.

More and more companies are reducing or, indeed, removing their need for office-based servers which typically hold all of their company data and emails and are moving it into cloud-based services.

Not only does this reduce capital costs – particularly on the investment of hardware – but it hugely improves on business continuity and disaster recovery planning because cloud-based services are run in offsite datacentres which are well backed up and benefit from failover to other hardware or sites.

When the first lockdown was announced, almost every one of our clients instantly needed a work from home capability.

It was clear to see that those clients who were already migrated or part migrated to the cloud had a much easier time of it in getting up and running and hitting maximum productivity.

Since then we have seen more companies make the jump to the cloud and further investments in remote working have been made.

We have seen a big rise in demand for our cloud migration service where we move company data from on premise server hardware into the cloud with Microsoft Office 365.

In addition, there has been an increase in requirements for our telecoms services with upgrades to broadband, leased lines and our feature-rich cloud-based phone system.

Users at home make, receive, and transfer phone calls seamlessly on their office extensions as if they were in the office and their customer and suppliers know no different.

Interpro Technology Systems is a leading IT support service provider and offers a complete range of cloud solutions from hosted servers, emails and file storage using Office 365 to a fully hosted cloud-based phone system.

Interpro can help your company get the very best out of remote working using well setup technology that is tailored for your business.

Fareham IT firm Interpro takes on apprentice after MD impressed by customer service received at the till in town’s closing Debenhams department store

WARM WELCOME: Interpro Technology Solutions Managing Director Mark Abrams with the company’s new apprentice Will Lancaster who was appointed after impressing with his customer service skills

A scribbled note on a till receipt has led to a promising career with an expanding IT company for a Fareham lad.

For 19-year-old Will Lancaster was manning the till during the final days of trading at Debenhams in Fareham Shopping Centre when Mark Abrams, boss of Interpro Technology Solutions, was out shopping with the family.

Mark was so impressed by the customer service offered by Will, even though the store was soon to close leaving him unemployed, that he scribbled down his contact details on a till roll and handed it to him.

Will, who lives in Fareham, responded immediately that evening and the upshot was the offer of a role with Interpro as an apprentice, in conjunction with Portsmouth-based PETA Training & Consultancy.

Interpro, based in two units on the Fareham Heights business park since last month after acquiring a second freehold property, provides managed outsourced IT support in and around Portsmouth, Southampton, Fareham and Hampshire

Founded in 2005, the 17-strong company also specialises in websites, servers, networking, hosted telephone systems, software development and broadband solutions across the UK.

Managing Director Mark said: ‘We were seriously thinking about appointing an apprentice but hadn’t fully formulated our plans when I met Will in Debenhams and realised had a great persona about him and excellent customer service abilities.

‘As a company, our ethos at Interpro is that we hold customer service in almost higher regard than technical skills – certainly for someone we are looking to train – so I had no hesitation in giving him my details.

‘I was hugely impressed that he followed up quickly, realised he was already registered with PETA as he was considering starting an apprenticeship so we progressed our plans. Will then stood out at interview and got offered the job.

‘Ever since he has really taken to it like a duck to water and has already added value to Interpro, making him a real success story. Everybody here loves him. We are very much investing in our future with Will.’

Will, born in Plymouth to Naval parents and part-raised in Gibraltar, has been building PCs, helped with the office move, has started getting into web design and played a big role in the roll-out of Interpro’s security software.

He said: ‘I was considering what to do as a career when I got the amazing opportunity to come here that I couldn’t turn down. I’m very happy that it came about by accident and I am determined to do my very best for Interpro.’

Will, who was educated at Ranvilles Junior School, Fareham Academy and Fareham College, started the first of five courses over 18 months through PETA at the beginning of September.

Latest Government figures, for August 2020 to January 2021,  show there were 161,900 apprenticeship starts. This was a drop of 18 per cent from the same period in 2019/20, with around 36,700 fewer starts.

Interpro, which has just enjoyed its best ever financial quarter, has won new contracts, continues to expand and will shortly be recruiting new staff.

The company boasts 200 clients and works with some of the leading brands on the south coast, including L&S Waste Management, Aquila Air Traffic Management Services, Mary Rose Museum and White Recruitment.

Moving on to the bigger and better!

An expanding IT company has acquired a larger building close to its Fareham HQ to help meet demand following sustained business growth over the last year.

Interpro Technology Solutions now owns two units on the Fareham Heights business park as it seeks to futureproof the business for further strategic growth.

The company was handed the keys to the two-storey, 2,000 sq ft Unit G1 at the Fareham Heights business park in a ceremony on Friday. (Jul 23)

KEY TO A BRIGHT FUTURE - Interpro Technology Solutions Managing Director Mark Abrams, left, has received the keys to the company’s new 2,000 sq ft headquarters at Fareham Heights business park from Adrian Donald, Managing Director of Premier Interior Systems, which carried out a six-week fitting out of the two-storey building. Handover day celebrations included a pizza van as many of the Interpro team saw the new premises for the first time.

Interpro is also maintaining its current building less than 100 yards away, the 1,100 sq ft Unit F8, which will be used as a store and house a breakout space for staff, with chill areas, games consoles and kitchen facilities.

Founded in 2005 by Managing Director Mark Abrams, the 17-strong company provides managed outsourced IT support in and around Portsmouth, Southampton, Fareham and Hampshire.

Interpro also specialises in websites, servers, networking, hosted telephone systems, software development and broadband solutions across the UK.

Mark said: “We had simply outgrown our existing premises and needed something bigger to house our expanding team as  we bring in new expertise and increase services to clients.

“Our new open-plan base has the top end facilities commensurate with our cutting edge performance, including bespoke workshops and purpose-built technical areas.

“We continue to recruit new team members and in order to attract and retain the top talent the provision of exceptional facilities is now very much a prerequisite.

“We remain very much an open and inclusive company, with the new headquarters reflecting this business ethos.”

The interior fitting out was done to a tight six-week deadline by Interpro client, nationwide design and build specialists Premier Interior Systems, based on the Fort Fareham industrial estate.

Interpro is set to move in during August following the hi-tech systems and phones installation process.

Acting on the transaction for Interpro was Samuel Flowers of legal firm Clarke Willmott, Andy Hellier of property consultancy Hellier Langston and Martin Parker of Handelsbanken in Portsmouth.

The company boasts 200 clients and works with some of the leading brands on the south coast, including L&S Waste Management, Aquila Air Traffic Management Services, Mary Rose Museum and White Recruitment.

Fareham Heights, located off Standard Way and just two miles north of the town centre and less than a mile from the M27, is a modern office development of two storey units.
